That first system — built for an asset management company — ran for almost ten years. Since then I've founded and operated businesses across healthcare, logistics, e-commerce, finance, government, real estate, recruiting, legal tech, marketing, cybersecurity, blockchain, AI, and space tech — writing the code and infrastructure myself. Whatever the problem, I build the solution from the ground up.
I've always been drawn to figuring out how things work and then
building my own version. Started coding in elementary school — by
15, I'd shipped production-grade software used by an asset
management company for client reporting and back-office
operations. That system ran for almost a decade.
In parallel, I was building businesses. Seasonal products, physical
sales, e-commerce, online storefronts, B2B sales
cycles, distribution networks — whatever I could get my
hands on. Built sales organizations and partnership
networks before I could legally sign a contract. Each
venture taught me something the last one couldn't, and the common
thread was always being early to whatever came next.
I served 12 months in signals intelligence and cyber
security for the Finnish Defence Forces.
Specifics remain under obligation. It
fundamentally shaped how I think about operational security,
adversarial systems, and what's at stake when critical infrastructure
fails. Started studying electrical and software engineering at
university after — dropped out when the opportunity cost of not
building became too high.
Healthcare & supply chain — procurement,
logistics, and government tenders where mistakes affect real
people. Finance & asset management —
financial operations, consulting, advisory.
E-commerce & retail — online and physical,
B2B and direct, partnership organizations from scratch.
Marketing & agencies — built and ran them.
Real estate — property platforms and tooling.
Recruiting & HR — hiring platforms,
staffing operations. Legal tech — document
signing, contract workflows, compliance. SaaS &
enterprise software — accounting suites, operations
platforms, CRMs. Self-hosted, multi-tenant, enterprise-ready.
I've handled highly confidential data and built
processes to work securely with institutional requirements.
More recently: blockchain protocols and DeFi
infrastructure, AI-powered data processing, agentic
swarms, and the security challenges they create,
cybersecurity and offensive security tooling,
I even took a run at space tech — designing
low-cost satellite communication and location-based IoT devices.
Didn't get funded, but the engineering was real. Participated
in planning Finland's first biowaste-to-protein plant
and reactor design — about as far from software as it
gets, but the systems thinking is the same. I've shipped
apps, SaaS products, games, autonomous agent systems, and
institutional-grade platforms. Always early to adopt, always
building at the edge.
Most of my professional work is under NDA. What's listed here are side projects and independent pieces — some built for clients but described at a general level.
Every project I take on gets a tailormade solution built
from the ground up — not a template, not a fork, not a
white-label with your logo on it. I sit down, understand the
specific workflows, integrations, and constraints, and build
exactly what's needed. Nothing more, nothing less.
Having run businesses myself, I know the pain of adopting new
tools and the overhead that comes with it. I build things that
fit into how you already work, not systems that
force you to change everything. The goal is always less friction,
not more.
I prefer ownership over delegation. I design the
architecture, write the code, handle the infrastructure, and talk
to the users. Not because I can't build teams — I've managed
organizations of 30+ people — but because the best products come
from people who understand every layer.
I think in cross-domain patterns. Healthcare
logistics taught me how to think about fintech architecture.
Intelligence work taught me how to think about security. Running
sales taught me what actually matters to the person paying.
Whether you're planning a new project from scratch, need someone to take a stuck project across the finish line, or want a technical partner who understands both the code and the business — reach out. I'll tell you honestly what I think it takes and whether I'm the right fit.
henkka.kamarainen@gmail.com →Finnish, but I've backpacked across Europe and can call most places home. When I'm not building something, I'm surfing, snowboarding, or fishing — preferably somewhere with bad cell reception.
